The Wheels O’ Time Museum Board of Directors, staff and volunteers recently welcomed Jim Baldwin as the new Board President of the organization, and Laura Evancho as its first Executive Director since it became a nonprofit organization in 2017. This year, the Wheels O’ Time celebrates its 37 years of continuous operation dedicated to portraying the life of the 20th century in Central Illinois. Its exhibitions include indoor and outdoor displays, many interactive, with antique and collector cars, trains, fire engines, airplanes, bicycles, farm and Caterpillar equipment, tools, a 1938 LeTourneau steel house, clocks and etc.

 

Jim Baldwin was Caterpillar vice president of Parts & Service Support Division. His organizational activities and affiliations outside of Caterpillar included the Heartland Water Resources Council, the Peoria Riverfront Business District Commission and Springdale Cemetery.  He became a member of the WOT Board of Directors in 2012. Baldwin, who has lived in Peoria for over 60 years, is well known for his extensive support to the local community. As for his vision for the museum he commented: “I look forward to seeing the Wheels O’ Time Museum gain the recognition it deserves as a major asset to the Peoria area, along the lines of the Peoria Riverfront Museum and the Peoria Historical Society.”

 

Laura Evancho comes with an extensive non-profit management and human resources regulatory compliance background. She served as the Executive Director of the Heartland Festival Orchestra since its founding as a non-profit organization in 2009 until the fall of 2018. She was recognized as the 2016 Executive Director of the Year by the Illinois Council of Orchestras. Laura previously worked as the Administrator of Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Plans for Aetna, based in Hartford, CT. In Evancho’s own words: “We would like to continue to grow the museum as a treasure for the local community and an attractive destination for visitors from out of town. We envision the museum expanding as an engaging and fun experience for all ages, preserving the past for the education and enjoyment of future generations”.

 

The Wheels O’ Time Museum is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization.

It is located between Peoria and Dunlap on 1710 W Woodside Dr. Dunlap IL 61525, with the trains visible from Knoxville Avenue.

The museum opens from May 1st to October 31st, Wednesday through Sunday from 12:00pm to 5:00pm, including Summer holidays.

 

Memberships to the WOTM are available on the museum’s website www.wheelsotime.org, individual tickets and memberships can be purchased onsite starting May 1st.
