Corn Stock Brings Shrek to the Tent

Corn Stock Theatre is pleased to announce the opening of our summer season with Shrek the musical! Based on the hit DreamWorks animated film, Corn Stock is thrilled to be bringing this classic tale to the stage for Central Illinois audiences!

“Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek…” And thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand—and his name is Shrek! Irreverently fun for the whole family, Shrek proves that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre.

Directed by Jimmy Ulrich, this show features the talent of Roger Roemer as Shrek, Dedra Kaiser as Fiona, Bryan Blanks as Donkey, Nate Massa as Lord Farquad, and Jasmyne Providence as the Dragon—along with so many more local actors bringing your favorite fairy tale characters to life!

The featured pre-show food vendor for Shrek will be Avanti’s, serving their famous gondolas on the lawn from 5:30 – 7:30 nightly. Other menu items include veggie gondolas, salads, chip, cookies and drinks. The Sky Harbor beer & wine back for 2019! Plan to come early to enjoy an evening of food and drinks before the show! Food vendors are scheduled all summer long – check the Corn stock web site for details.

Don’t forget to join us for ‘Sunday in the Swamp,’ a pre-show patio carnival on Sunday, June 2 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm on the CST patio. Kids of all ages can play games, enjoy face painting, meet the cast of Shrek, take photos with their favorite characters, and more! This event is free with the purchase of a ticket to the Sunday night performance of Shrek. Avanti’s and Kona Ice will be on hand for food and refreshment purposes during the pre-show patio event.

Shrek show dates are May 31st through June 8th at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $22 for adults and $17 for children high school age and younger. Purchase tickets online at www.cornstocktheatre.com, call 309-676-2196, or get tickets at the door. All seating is reserved.
