An Evening with John Miller & Preston Jackson
June 17 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pmFree – $8
One afternoon about 2 1/2 yrs. ago, Preston and John ran into each other at Broken Tree Café. In the ensuing conversation, the idea came up to bring guitars up on a Tuesday night and have a little fun for an hour or two and play some music for the patrons. Well, 2 1/2 years later and the fun keeps growing. Between the two guitarists there is about 125 years of guitar experience. The music is spontaneous, unrehearsed, and the guitarists play off each other’s ideas. It’s always fresh, fun, and the listener may hear anything from Duke Ellington to Ray Charles to Hank Williams, all done with a traditional jazz sensibility. The audience has been very appreciative of the innocence and spontaneity of the Vintage Guitars. The informality creates an atmosphere as if it were in your living room. So, Preston and John invite you to join them, sit back, relax, and have some musical fun.
CIJS House Band, ever popular, kicks off the evening featuring outstanding jazz musicians from the area under the leadership of Larry Harms. They present a great variety of jazz styles and arrangements.
