AUDITIONS! Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe

July 14 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

ACT proudly announces Auditions for our fall production of Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe by Eric Coble, Directed by Tara Williams! Performances slated for October 12th,13th, 19th, & 20th.

Edgar Allan Poe stands alone in the flickering darkness of his mind, trying desperately to convince himself — and us — that he’s not mad. The spell he weaves brings us a highly theatrical adaptation of four tales Poe himself considered his best: “The Raven,” “The Fall of the House of Usher,” “The Pit and the Pendulum,” and “The Tell-Tale Heart.” Enter the world of Poe and check your heartbeat at the door.

I will be looking for versatile, talented actors to immerse themselves into these dark characters. The ability to memorize lines is a must.

Will be casting 7-9 actors

Auditions will consist of cold reads from actual script or you may choose to perform a monologue from Poe.

POE: Male, 25-50
a tormented soul, Narrates many of Edgar Allen Poe’s stories as he is forced to live them.

EDGAR: Male, 18-65
a guest in the House of Usher, an innocent bystander caught up in a whirlwind of evil, neurotic, a genius.

MADELINE: Female, 18-65
a ghost, haunting the House of Usher. Twin sister to Usher. Hauntingly beautiful.

USHER: Male, 18-65
the Lord of the House of Usher, Quickly loosing his mind after the death of his twin sister Madeline.

The OLD MAN: Male, 30-65
a kind, senile old man who is cursed with a vulture eye, and therefore, Poe’s hatred

SANTE: Male, 18-50
a convict who was sentenced to the mental and physical torture in The Pit and the Pendulum.

The RAVEN: M or F 18-40
the nightmare in The Raven, dance or yoga background preferred, able to embody the anamorphic qualities.

M or F. 18-65 Tell Tale Heart. Questioning and inquisitive.

☆☆☆I am also looking for a few production staff. Light/sound runner, costume, props, concessions.☆☆☆
